Description
Tiny World is a little planet you can hold in your hands. It starts with a working volcano, two lakes, a sea on each side and a handful of trees, all running on simple rules that add up to something alive. Drag anywhere to paint sand, water, stone, lava, seeds, ice, fire or critters.
Everything reacts to everything else. Lava hitting the sea turns to new stone and sends up steam, and the steam falls again as rain. Seeds sprout on damp soil, plants grow towards the sky, fire tears through forests, and burned branches drop as seeds so the land recovers. Pink critters hunt for plants, eat, breed and eventually starve back into seeds.
Or play the god. Press Rain, Quake or Comet and see what survives. A census tracks your plants, critters, sea, stone and lava, and the planet journal writes its own history as it happens: life appears, forests rise, the last critter is gone.
Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript on a single canvas, with no server or running costs. It works with mouse, touch or keyboard, and it makes a great toy, classroom talking point or base for your own simulation.

- Mainly AI-generated
- Under one month in development
- Mobile-friendly
- Tests included
- Setup guide included
- Demo available
What works
- Simulation of 26,000 cells running live in the browser
- Ten materials that react to each other
- Paint by mouse or touch with three brush sizes
- Volcano that erupts by itself, with lava that cools into new land
- Water cycle with evaporation, steam and rain
- Plants that grow near water, burn, and regrow from seeds
- Critters that seek food, breed and starve
- Rain, Quake and Comet buttons
- Pause, 3× speed, empty planet and starter planet
- Live census and a planet journal that writes itself
- 18 tests covering the simulation rules
What’s unfinished
- The starter critters usually die out in under a minute unless you paint more, so the food chain needs balancing
- Planets can't be saved or shared yet
- No sound
- Painting by touch hasn't been tried on a real phone
