Kindling

A habit tracker that survives a bad day. Habit strength replaces all-or-nothing streaks, and a campfire grows as your habits take hold.

Description

Most habit apps punish you for being human. Miss one day, your streak drops to zero, and many people give up. Kindling is built around that moment. Each habit has a strength score that rises with practice, barely dips after one miss and only falls properly if you stop for a while.

Streaks are still here, but one slip in any seven days is forgiven. A campfire at the top of the app shows the combined strength of everything you're building, growing from a small flame to a roaring blaze.

Habits fit real life. Choose every day, set days of the week or a number of times a week, and count things like glasses of water as well as simple yes or no habits. Rest days never count against you, and today isn't marked as a miss until it's over.

A 12-week calendar shows your progress at a glance, and Patterns finds your strongest and hardest days of the week. Starter habits cover water, walking, stretching, sleep and more. It's plain JavaScript with no server or running costs, with backup and restore, and it suits a coach, a wellness brand or a workplace programme.

Known limitations

Data stays in one browser unless it's backed up, and clearing browser data removes it. The strength score is a motivational measure, not a scientific one.
